As a federally owned enterprise, GIZ supports the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development. Efficient, effective and customer-oriented, GIZ has been one of the world’s leading service providers in the field of sustainable development for the past 35 years. Whereas most commissions are placed by the German Government, GIZ’s services are frequently contracted directly by international institutions, governments and private businesses. Within the organizational structure of the company, GIZ International Services (GIZ IS) offers our solutions to international clients.
Funded by the World Bank, the Ministry of Commerce and Industries commissioned GIZ International Services to implement the New Market Development Project. The goal of the program is to improve the competitiveness of businesses enabling them to consolidate their local market position and penetrate export markets. The Project awards grants to eligible firms and associations and facilitates their access to business development services (product/market development and business processes upgrading). Business services are either procured directly through the program (Technical Assistance) or by client firms themselves. Under both models eligible client firms share in the costs.
The project is located in the four major urban cities of Kabul, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Herat.
