The International Rescue Committee (IRC) began working with Afghan refugee communities in Pakistan in 1980, and first started implementing programs inside Afghanistan in 1988. IRC Afghanistan program is working in 8 provinces including Kabul Main Office; IRC Afghanistan is working in Education, National Solidarity Program and Humanitarians Program
The Humanitarian Program Manager is responsible for overseeing IRC’s Humanitarian Program in Helmand IRC maintains a standby emergency response capacity and carries out an ongoing program of assessment of rapid onset and protracted crises. These assessments then inform IRC shelter, NFI, water and sanitation responses to crises and are also shared with the wider humanitarian community to support informed and coordinated responses. IRC’s humanitarian program portfolio will include, over time, Emergency Response, Disaster Risk Reduction, Winterization plus other efforts as driven by target beneficiary population needs.
