World Vision is an international Relief and Development Organization operating in over 100 countries around the globe. WV International/Afghanistan started its operations since 2002 in the western provinces of Afghanistan (Herat, Ghor, and Badghis) in the areas of Education, Health, Agriculture, and Water & Sanitation.
WORK CONTEXT / BACKGROUND:
World Vision Afghanistan has been working in Badghis, Herat and Ghor provinces for more than10 years addressing health, education and livelihood issues to improve well-being of girls and boys. The relationship with the Afghanistan government at the national, provincial, district and village levels is very strong, as is the relationship with the communities in which World Vision works. Together with the government and the communities in the target areas, World Vision has been working to achieve its national strategy for improving the survival and wellbeing of Afghan girls and boys through building the foundation for a better future for them, their families, and their communities.
Education is one of the key strategic priority areas that embrace a comprehensive approach of child education and life skill in the life cycle of children. WVA have acquired a funding from WV Hong Kong to support early childhood school readiness program in Badghis, Ghor and Herat Provinces. Each province will have 3 learning spaces except Herat which will has one learning space.
The position is located in Ghor and Badghis zonal office of World Vision Afghanistan.
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The FACE (Foundational development for Afghan Children at Early years) Project Officer will provide technical and programmatic support for the project facilitators. In line with this, s/he will oversee and mentor the implementation of the facilitators in carrying out the teaching and learning process for the children and their caregivers. In addition, s/he will be responsible for planning and managing the implementation of each activity in the project with appropriate utilization of the budget. S/he will ensure the continuous tracking of children’s and caregivers progress in their learning achievements. Concurrently, s/he will be the key person to network and partner with provincial and district department of education and other implementing agencies to promote access to quality education and development for all children in the target areas. In addition, s/he will provide personnel management of the three ECD facilitators and three parent educators as well as reporting of the project progress and challenges to the province’s zone manager.
