Duties & Responsibilities

The Business Development Senior Intern undertakes the following specific duties and responsibilities:

 Develop proposals with specific needs of participants in agribusinesses, farmers with specifications of technical assistance that will be provided to participants

 Assess the operations of targeted value chains to determine what production and technical innovations or improvements are needed to increase sales, market reach, or improve services and implement plans.

 Identify and document innovations (not yet tried approaches by PSDD) in at least 2 policy recommendation papers which are based on private sector’s needs articulated in public-private dialogues (PPD) & results of the ACCI’s (Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry) expert monitoring groups.

 Identify business opportunities of specific sector, to develop business plans, concept notes and technical papers.

 Work with identified companies to provide the technical knowledge or advice in the value added agri-business sector, required to improve that business or operation.

 Any other task deemed necessary by the Private Sector Development Director.


1. At least 2 policy / implementation recommendations in written form to SEDEP and PSDD.

2. Presentation of above names policy / procedural recommendations to SEDEP and PSDD


Under the supervision of the PSDD, the Senior Business Development intern is responsible to communicate activity descriptions and success stories to management and communication team of PSDD and provide information and capture all the achievements and successes due to the technical interventions of Private Sector Development Directorate (PSDD) in all the targeted business. He / She will also help and supervise the junior agribusiness development intern.


The Senior Business Development intern will report on monthly and quarterly basis to PSDD and GIZ/SEDEP. He / She will also submit the final report at the end of the internship program that will highlight the achievements, challenges and recommendation for further improvements. He / she will also help the junior agribusiness development intern for preparation and submission of His / Her activities progress report.
