Education:Bachelor Degree
Work Experience:at least 5 Experience Years

Bachelor’s degree in forestry watershed management or natural resource management with at least 5 years’ experience in community-based natural resource management preferably watershed management in Lower Kokcha/Amu River Basin.

Demonstrated interest in working closely with the community and an open attitude in communicating with them.

Demonstrated ability to work in rural areas.

Tasks include:

Duties & Responsibilities

Selecting watershed sites for intervention with close coordination with NRM and other members of the implementation team;

Collecting baseline data for all watershed related activities necessary for soil water and plant conservation and design of watershed projects;

Mobilizing local community for establishing community-based institution for Community-based Watershed Management (CBWM);

Forming Forest Management Associations (FMA) and registering them with MAIL;

Developing NRM plan together with engineering and design team and FMA members at the watershed level;

Participating in capacity development needs assessment of the FMA and local community members;

Enhancing the capacity and ability of FMA members for better implementation and adaptation of CBWM;

Developing and designing the best suited soil and water protection and conservation structures such as check dam and retaining walls along with the other members of the implementation team;

In accordance with the climate and soil condition of the watershed sites identifying the most appropriate plant and tree species for the rehabilitation and conservation of natural resources in the watershed sites;

Supporting local communities in adapting the best practice of livestock grazing in rangeland areas at the watershed level;

Conducting evaluation and monitoring of the watershed management and conservation activities on a regular basis;

Conducting frequent surveys and field work for problem identification and suggesting of new watershed sites for intervention in project areas;

Providing advice on watershed and natural resources areas suitable for scientific research to contribute in improving natural resources through scientific solutions; and

Synergizing the watershed management activities with on-farm water management activities to ensure the use of integrated approach designed for the project.
