  • University degree, preferably in Law;

  • Legal background, particularly in the Afghan legal context of formal/informal justice mechanisms;

  • Experience developing training materials and providing training to field trainers and facilitators;

  • Supervisory/managerial experience over teams in multiple locations;

  • Familiarity with research, particularly field assessments and surveys;

  • Awareness of, and willingness to follow, conflict-sensitive program management and do-no-harm techniques;

  • Willingness to travel to field locations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of Justice Coordinator, this position will be responsible for supervising the activities of the sub-contracted CSOs and overseeing the quality of the materials and events, including the trainers and facilitators. This position will be based in Kabul with occasional travel to the provinces.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take the lead on supervision and quality control of field activities and interventions which are planned and executed by TLO and sub-contracted CSOs, such as trainings, network meetings, spinsari groups, coordination meetings, and discussion meetings;

  • Review existing training materials from previous stage of project and make required changes and updates to correspond with the current phase of the project;

  • Supervise project trainers and facilitators to ensure effective training workshops, coordination meetings, and network events; this involves all aspects of planning and implementation of these sessions in the targeted districts;

  • Perform quality control on all planned events and materials in targeted districts;

  • Develop any training materials missing from training package;

  • Supervise project staff, under guidance of Justice Coordinator;

  • Brief all project staff on planned activities and project requirements;

  • Promote interaction and coordination between formal and informal justice actors in targeted districts;

  • Work closely with Local Research Advisor to develop and design both pre- and post-assessments on formal and informal justice systems in targeted districts, with focus on research framework development, key informant interviews and focus group discussions;

  • Compile and prepare project reports which include weekly, monthly, quarterly, and event reports, including reports from field manager;

  • Provide training to field trainers and facilitators to ensure proper understanding of the materials

  • Ensure proper data collection as per project requirements;

  • Work closely with Justice Coordinator on effective planning and implementation of the activities based on the approved work plan and assessment findings;

  • Represent TLO-ADALAT Project in donor meetings with Justice Coordinator and Project Field Manager;

  • Fill in as project lead during any absence by Justice Coordinator;

  • Any other task assigned by line manager.
