Experience of working with USAID funded projects

Has ability to work well in a cross-cultural environment



Proven organizational and administrative management skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills; fluent written and spoken English, Dari and Pashto.



Ability to coach, mentor, delegate appropriately & provide departmental guidance to staff



Good adaptability and ability to work under extreme pressure



 


Duties & Responsibilities

The Gender Manager will report to the Capacity Building and Gender Director. He / She will be responsible for the Gender activities. Specific job duties will include but not limited to the following activities, he/ she should perform any other activities assigned by CBG director:



Technical:



Ensure that gender empowerment is appropriately integrated into KFZ 8



program activities, methodologies, and approaches focusing on results and impact.



Oversee the development and implementation of a gender equity and social inclusion strategy, to effectively empower women within all program activities.



Provide technical guidance in women empowerment, gender equality and equity to KFZ staff, its subcontractors and other key partners by providing technical leadership in design and delivery of gender capacity building and mentorship.



Support gender activities across the KFZ Program, including those within District Government, DAIL and DARSA to assure women empowerment is included within their work, activities and project design and implementation.



Manage and facilitate women’s participation in community engagement and other activities.



Establish and maintain contacts with governmental and non-governmental stakeholders on gender related strategies and activities.



Working collaboratively with the AD Project Manager, design and implement sub-activities to foster gender empowerment and social inclusion activities within all projects generated by KFZ.



Coordinate and collaborate with the local government and District Development Assemblies (DDA) to empower women in KFZ’s Irrigation Command Area (ICA)



Plan, implement and report on all activities to overcome barriers to women’s participation within KFZ’s projects activities



Assure gender empowerment activities into the work plan of each project.



Develop messages for the Communication Behavior Change Campaign that reinforce women empowerment



M&E and Reporting:



Responsible to monitor all gender activities progress against set targets, timelines, quality and the SOW in the contracts.



Assure compliance of the gender with M&E standards, timeframe and content of the startup, weekly, monthly, completion, quarterly and yearly reports.



Others:



Conduct meetings with Ministry of Women Affairs (MOW) at the central and provincial level to identify commonalities between KFZ gender strategy could support the implementation of National Action Plan for Women of Afghanistan (NAPA).



Translate documents from English into Pashto/Dari and Pashto/Dari into English when necessary.



Work closely with M&E Department to review the Gender Indicators and established methodology and approaches to achieve them.



Work closely with Communications Department on gender-related publications.



Represent KFZ in Coordination Committee or any other meetings with USAID, GIRoA and IPs, including Women’s Council meetings and act as KFZ Project Gender Focal Point in meetings and conferences as instructed by the supervisor.
