·         Experience in growing a vegetable garden



3 yrs experience in health, hygiene, nutrition and/or community training

Fluent in spoken and written Dari

Good basic understanding of spoken and written English, this will be tested at the interview



Good working skills with Microsoft Office, this will be tested at the interview


Duties & Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE: 



To contribute to the development of contextualised kitchen garden training materials.

To recruit, line manages and supervises hygiene, nutrition & kitchen garden behavioural change communication (BCC) trainers (4) and promoters (up to 30).

To train BCC trainers and promoters in inclusive, gender sensitive hygiene and nutrition curriculum and methodologies for adult and young learners.

To meet with community leaders and select project beneficiaries.

To schedule and oversee the delivery of message promotion house to house, assembly meetings and implementation of kitchen gardens in all project areas.

To foster clear communication and good relationships with community leaders through all phases of the project.

To monitor the quality of trainings and kitchen gardens and assist with Pre and Post KPC surveys as required. 

To report to the line manager on a regular basis on the progress of all activities and field activities and outputs.



MAIN ACTIVITIES:



1. Technical



Contribute to the development of high quality training materials.

Input to and adhere to comprehensive activity plan (GANTT) for the duration of the project. 

Train the BCC trainers and promoters in inclusive and gender sensitive training methods and in the hygiene, nutrition and kitchen garden messages and practical demonstrations.

Organise community meetings and undertake beneficiary selection.

Prepare weekly work plans.

Supervise and monitor the delivery of the program house to house in the communities.

Prepare and carry out assembly meetings with communities.

Ensure community training is conducted in an inclusive and gender sensitive manner for adult and young learners.

Ensure accurate and timely input for the reporting of activities to line manager (weekly, monthly, quarterly, final reports) using Medair and Government Templates.

Ensure all financial accountability is completed in a timely and correct manner.

Assist in conducting KPC surveys and training monitoring.

Draft reports for the KPC pre and post training surveys.

Support the development of new proposals.



2. Staff management



Direct line management of BCC trainers and promoters. Recruitment, management, time sheets, objective setting, training, general well-being, monitoring of work schedules etc.

To maintain a transparent, honest and supportive communication structure with the Medair team and with communities.



3. Logistics



Co-ordinate with the Manager, Logistics Officer and Field Logistics Assistant in planning distributions for the project.

Ensure the timely distribution of project materials and work with the Field Logistics Assistant  to maintain clear up-to-date stock records.

Oversee distribution of beneficiary cash and material incentives in the communities and keep distribution records.



Financial management:



Follow procurement procedures and logistics procedures for all project purchases.

Help in the provision of all financial planning and reports as required by the Manager (cash forecast and PDF planning etc).

Follow financial procedures and oversee the distribution of cash incentives and transport money to promoters.



5. Community relations



Build positive relationships with local authorities in the field and the communities.

Ensure good community relations so that the BCC trainers and promoters can carry out training. Resolve any issues or report them to the Manager or Project Co-ordinator to address.

Ensure beneficiary accountability is carried out and report any feedback to the Manager.



6. Communication and coordination with the project team



Make weekly and monthly progress reports on the training program and provide this to the Manager.

Support the Manager in making the purchase request for incentives, ensuring the timely arrival of materials, safe storage of assets/materials and clear up-to-date record keeping

Co-ordinate with other team members over the use of Medair assets such as training materials and vehicles.

Participate constructively in project meetings.
