Education:Master’s degree required; PhD is preferred;
Work Experience:3-5 Years

  • Master s degree in English or related discipline required PhD is highly preferred;

  • 3-5 years of higher education teaching experience;

  • Experience in the administration of the English language programs including needs analysis student and faculty assessment and evaluation policy and curriculum materials development;

  • Ability to quickly adapt to new situations and different working conditions;

  • Be a team player with the ability to inspire a cohesive teacher team;

  • School-based leadership and proficiency in educational technologies preferred;

  • Proven effectiveness in a cross-cultural work environment and ability to bridge cultures; Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Other Requirements

  • Be able to travel to outside Afghanistan and stay for 6 to 12 weeks each year (project is for three years)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop curriculum materials and classroom aids in collaboration with the US English Language Experts and the program implementer;

  • Co-facilitate the five-week training program in collaboration with US university partner;

  • Collaborate with the teaching team to create activities that connect to the different content areas;

  • Provide guidance to students and teaching team both inside and outside the classroom;

  • Conduct faculty seminars student forums and other dynamic pedagogical activities to improve professional teaching skills;

  • Coordinate with the monitoring and evaluation team to develop knowledge-sharing efforts related to English language teaching and work with administrators to reform Afghan curriculum;

  • Promote group work in a dynamic environment;

  • Encourage flexibility and adaptability with a positive attitude;

  • Support acceptance of people and traditions different from their own; and

  • Provide support for female participants to exercise leadership and decision-making skills.
