Duties & Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE:



Implementing the BCC (Behaviour Change Communication) care groups to female participants in Kandahar city and districts to increase household level awareness and practice of Health Nutrition Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Food Security.



Behaviour change communication will address topics including Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) nutrition for Pregnant and Lactating Women (PLWs) food preparation health seeking behaviour for common causes of under-five morbidity and mortality and hygiene and sanitation practices on household level.



PROJECT OVERVIEW:



Medair’s integrated project seeks to strengthen maternal and child health in

Kandahar City and districts. The multi-sectoral project addresses the inadequate

coverage and quality of life-saving services for the treatment of acute malnutrition

in children under five years. The underlying cause of malnutrition will be

addressed through WASH Food Security and BCC activities. The project will address the key causes of malnutrition through BCC – by promoting improved IYCF practices and healthy behaviors linked to reducing deaths amongst vulnerable populations. Female participants and family members play a central role in this approach.



MAJOR OBJECTIVES:



Providing Training




  • Giving Qualitative and participatory training on promoter and volunteer level only to female groups.

  • Being an example in the community.

  • Building up the training capacity of promoters and volunteers.

  • Providing constructive feedback at promoter and volunteer level.

  • Making sure that supporting Information Education and Communication (IEC) material is prepared and distributed on time and processed correctly.

  • Preparing Tally Sheets and Training sheets for Promoters Training.



Community Acceptance




  • Coordinate and liaise with local communities to find volunteers and promoters as well as accurate training places for promoter trainings and care groups.

  • Coordinate and liaise with local communities when there are challenging circumstances or problems and know when to ask for help from supervisor officer managers or other relevant parties.

  • Behavior and dressing will be appropriate.



Data / Program Quality




  • Responsible for adequate data collection through promoters.

  • Train promoters on data collection.

  • Responsible for printing and preparing tally sheets on time.

  • Making sure that tally sheets are accurate.

  • When giving training to promoters or visiting care groups using checklists and provide constructive feedback to promoters and volunteers.



Main Activities :




  • Giving high quality and participatory trainings on community level.

  • Capacity builds promoters and volunteers on training skills and topics.

  • Preparing trainings making sure IEC materials are ready on time and processed correctly.

  • Providing constructive feedback towards promoters and volunteers.

  • Participating in household counts surveys and other monitoring and evaluation activities.

  • Provide accurate records documents and reports as required.

  • Assist in ensuring safety and security of all team members as well as all Medair equipment and program supplies.

  • Be flexible and willing to assist in other areas of work as requested.

  • Any other duties as assigned by Officer/Supervisor.
