Duties & Responsibilities
Responsibilities and particular assignments
Under direct management of the deputy project manager the emergency trauma team doctor is responsible for the following main activities in order to ensure the provision of quality of trauma and services at site:
The emergency trauma team doctor is responsible for response to mass casualties in the eastern region either they are due to man-made or natural disasters.
With coordination of line manager and HF in the catchment area the emergency team doctor will provide triage first aid services and stabilization in the sites.
In the routine days the emergency team doctor will work as per priority which is given by line manager.
The emergency team doctor must have full preparedness before departure to the site.
The emergency trauma team doctor will make sure with coordination of other agencies that the injured refer to the HFs with considering condition of the injured and capacity of the HF.
The team is responsible for evaluation of any response to the emergency to fill the gaps for the next time response.
The emergency trauma team doctor will provide detail report of any response to the emergencies.
Establish communication with ambulances staff and patient attendances.
Apply the ABC for the cardiopulmonary (CP) resuscitation.
Obtain accurate handover from ambulance staff handover should be given prior to transfer onto hospital.
Co-ordinate the number and status of the primary causality and early resuscitation to the line supervisor
Priorities management and investigation of injured people according to pre hospital emergency response plan.
Ensure the availability of sensitive drugs and consumables Analgesics antibiotics mannitol IV fluids Pyodin gauze bandages splint survical neck color….…..
Liaise with surgical unit of the nearest hospital to ensure sub specialty notification where indicated.
Ensure documentation of Clinical history and exam and registration.
Check and ensure the availability of airway resuscitation equipment.
Ensure anesthetic drugs including analgesics ordered as requested by team leader.
Oversee or immobilize cervical spine.
To do Intubation.
To apply Nasogastric (NG) tube insertion.
Suture scalp/face for hemostasis.
Apply pressure dressings.
Splint and immobilize the limb fractures.
To do suture simple lacerations
Tasks and responsibilities
Facilitate the referral of patients
Respect the PU-AMI Standards of Procedures for referral and stabilization of patients
Recording the relevant information in the patients register book and referral sheet.
Accompany patients to the external referral HF when required
Ensure the patient follow up.
Recording and reporting of beneficiaries.
Tally and register each patient in dressing and HMIS registers.
Prepare monthly activities charts and graphs of the beneficiaries.
Prepare weekly and monthly reports and submit it on time to provincial office.
Keep the copy of monthly activity report monthly pharmacy consumption report in a separate file.
Timely updating of stock cards for all the available medicines and consumables in trauma team.
