Qualification:

  • A minimum  bachelor’s  degree  in  horticulture  or  any  other  relevant  field  from  a with 4-years of progressively relevant experience;

  • Must have strong technical (fruit and vegetable value chains) skills to successfully guide and monitor on-farm subproject investments at the province level;

  • Have experience in horticulture extension and implementation of horticulture and rural development projects;

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills;

  • Able to take initiative and play a vital role representing farmer groups whenever required;

  • Planning and report writing skills;

  • Experience in working with the communities and farmers;

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to solve issues that may arise at the farmer and community levels;

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the overall supervision of the regional manager the Field Facilitation Officers will work as the main point of contact between the Project and the beneficiaries and their associated ABEs. Their main role of the officers is to act as an interface between the beneficiaries and the Project to identify interested farmers in sub-projects to strengthen linkages between groups of farmers and ABEs to assist farmers in preparing  common  sub-project  investment  proposals  and  to  assist  in  the  coordination  of implementation  of  approved  sub-projects.  A  great  deal  of  their  time  will  be  spent  in  the  field conducting  farmer  liaison  then  undertaking  visits  to  monitor  the  implementation  of  on-farm sub-projects  financed  by  the  Project. They will be responsible for confirming counterpart contributions by farmers to these sub-projects.



Specific Duties;




  • Identify farmer groups interested in adopting on-farm improvements financed by the Project and assist them in the preparation of SIPs;

  • Ensure  that  proposed  subproject  investments  conform  with  project  agreed eligibility criteria;

  • Plan coordinate and implement project horticulture subprojects in line with the project objectives and agreed plans;

  • Conduct consultation sessions and workshops at the farm community district and provincial  levels  (as  needed)   and  report  progress  and  issues  to  senior management;

  • In coordination with the regional manager and key stakeholders assist  in  the  identification of horticultural  crops  growers/farmers  and  communities  to  be  supported  by  the Project;

  • Support subproject implementation by arranging training and  other  capacity building needed to maximize the benefits from subproject investments;

  • Facilitate  farmers  into groups  in dealing with ABEs and  the Project Adaptability and coordination skills;

  • Maintain  good  relationship  with  communities   stakeholders   and provincial relevant  government  departments  and  officials   for  better  and  smooth implementation of the affiliated farmers’ sub-projects;

  • Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as may be requested by Regional manager.
