  • At least 2 years’ experience working in finance and if possible procurement

  • Report writing in English

  • Work for an NGO funded by an institutional donor (preferred)

Education & Training:

  • University Degree

  • Qualification in accounting/ finance/ business ACCA and FIA (preferred)


  • Fluency in English and Dari/Pashto

  • Proficiency in using standard computer software (including Word and Excel).

  • Familiarity with QuickBooks (preferred)

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Financial literacy and accurate use of financial language in English

  • Should be able to organize and prioritise their own work with limited supervision.

  • Must possess an ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Ability to develop strong trusting and collaborative working relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Finance and Procurement Officer will be required to support the Project Manager and the main office finance team to complete financial records including the monthly report and detailed donor finance files and to oversee procurement for the project. This position requires someone who has great attention to detail. An excellent grasp of English including financial language is also crucial.

Main Duties:

  • Carefully monitor and record expenditure in relation to budget lines

  • Produce detailed financial narratives to accompany expenditure reports to the donor.

  • Budget Preparation

  • Provide support to the training team in relation to financial issues in timely manner

  • Provide all relevant financial documents to donor

  • Ensure all financial activities comply with rules and regulations of the Hagar office and the donor office

  • Review process and record all receipts and vouchers with great attention to detail

  • Asset listing and monitoring

  • Procurement

  • Other tasks as required by the Project Manager Programmes Development Manager and the Executive Director to assist the work of Hagar
