  • B.A. in social sciences, national development, non-profit management, or any other relevant area.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in fundraising for non-profit organizations.
  • Proven success in fundraising and development of proposals and applications for at least two major grants.
  • Knowledge of the current funding and new business development environment in Afghanistan.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Work experience with USAID funded projects is a plus.
  • Fluency in English, Dari and Pashto is compulsory.

Duties & Responsibilities

2.0 The Purpose and Objectives of the Consultancy
TAF is seeking for a fundraising consultant to facilitate the development of a fundraising strategic plan and provide technical support to ACKU in implementing the plan. Specific objectives of the assignment are to:
  1. Work with the consultancy firm to develop fundraising strategy and fundraising implementation plan for a better integration of ACKU organizational requirements in the strategy and implementation plan.
  2. Support ACKU in development of Proposals, Concept Notes, Expression of Interest (EOI) and other related documents to diversify ACKU’s funding pool.
  3. Work with ACKU assigned staff to implement fundraising activities. Deliverables include but are not limited to:
    • Prepare a database of potential donors in sectors relevant to ACKU’s strategic focus and prioritize funding sources with emphasis on major grants, endowments and generation of own income.
    • Develop concept notes and proposals.
    • Organize fundraising activities.
    • Asses and make recommendations on opportunities for public/private partnerships for ACKU as a strategy to enhance financial sustainability of the organization.
    • Consult with boards, management staff and other key stakeholders to research and identify potential funding opportunities.
    • Create a series of templates for fundraising proposals, transfer key knowledge and skills to ACKU management and staff to enable them successfully implement fundraising activities.
    • Through a learning by-doing approach train ACKU management and staff in preparation and implementation of the fundraising strategy.
3.0 Deliverables:
  • An inception report outlining the methodology and work plan for the assignment.
  • Fundraising strategic plan and its implementation
  • A  Capacity building plan for ACKU staff and management in fundraising area.
  • Fundraising proposals prepared in response to 1-2 existing funding opportunities.
  • A developed fund identification and response mechanism.
  • A Database prepared containing potential donors for the organization.
  • Recommendations on opportunities for public/private partnership for the organization.
  • A complete set of templates for fundraising proposals, concept Notes, EOI and other related documents.
