At least 5 years of experience working on gender mainstreaming;
Strong background in the Afghan legal system, particularly with formal/informal justice mechanisms;
Experience mentoring marginalized groups and advocating for their inclusion in project activities;
Able to review and update materials to ensure gender mainstreaming is included;
Previous experience working with spinsari groups and CSOs;
Willing to make frequent trips to the field.
Duties & Responsibilities
Under direct supervision of the Project Field Manager and Justice Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for gender mainstreaming and will serve as an advocate for marginalized groups, including women. This position will be based in Kabul with frequent travel to field sites.
Ensure gender mainstreaming takes place during planning process for all activities and is included in actual practice during project implementation;
Works to maintain gender balance for all groups, meetings, and events, making sure marginalized groups are given a chance to participate;
Serves as focal point and liaison for all spinsari groups, from establishment through follow-up;
Provides mentorship and guidance to spinsari groups;
Reviews training materials to ensure gender-based considerations are included;
Ensures women trainers are included and provides support to them once project begins;
Work closely with sub-contracted CSOs on gender aspects of program;
Work closely with Gender Specialist at Checchi to improve TLO and CSO’s gender mainstreaming component of the project and ensure USAID’s gender policies are followed;
Review baseline and endline assessments to ensure gender is taken into consideration and sex and age disaggregated data is collected;
Any other tasks assigned by supervisor.
