An agriculture degree is preferred with 3-4 years of relevant experience.
Business Administration diploma or certificate is a plus
Demonstrated experience in the preparation of agriculture related questionnaires and surveys. Be prepared to provide examples of your works.
Experience in working with USAID funded programs/projects will be an advantage.
Excellent computer skills in MS Office – you will be tested.
Fluent in Dari with excellence in reading writing and speaking in English language.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Value Chain Specialist’s activities will be related to providing Business Development Services to program beneficiaries. The Value Chain Specialist will be member of a small team guided by Senior Business Development Specialist and Provincial Implementation Manager while providing quality assistance to various agribusinesses associations and groups to a goal of improving profits and sustainable employment for men and women and result in an increase in annual sales.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with the identification of Value Chain actors for high value crops (Raisin/Grapes dried fruits/nuts and Melon) and help with identifying gaps and interventions at every stage of the value chains.
Assist with market linkages of chain actors and come up with recommendations at each stage of the high value crops value chain based on his/her relevant experiences.
Assist the Business Development Team with the preparation of questionnaires or surveys as needed.
Assess and categorize the prospects based on their suitability to match program goals.
Assist with the data collection when needed by Senior Business Development Specialist and Provincial Implementation Manager for conducting market assessments analysis business plans budgeting marketing and sales plans and any other related assistance that will achieve the goals of improving profits and sustainable employment for men and women.
Maintain weekly reporting and communications with clients and disseminate with Senior Business Development Specialist and Provincial Implementation Manager.
Conduct yourself with honestly and integrity during office hours and after while always keeping the program goals and objectives in the forefront.
Work with the Business Development specialist to create a comprehensive database of existing and new agriculture businesses (i.e. input suppliers producers processors traders etc.) for local national and international markets in high value crops value chains.
Identify key legal and regulatory constraints hindering business growth and ensure that those issues are incorporated into project activities.
Assist with organizing events and seminars as per the work-plan.
The Value Chain Specialist will perform any other tasks assigned by his supervisor or designee which are consistent with his qualifications or experience.
