Bachelor of Computer Sciences (BCS) or diploma in IT or similar field with emphasis on network computing and services. Relevant experience and another university degree may substitute for the degrees mentioned.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an equivalent position. Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is preferred. USAID funded project experience is a plus.
PC and Server support experience, especially with Windows Server & Windows Client operating systems, cloud computing and network services.
Ability of point to point and point to multi point Wireless configuration and installation.
LAN, WAN, VSAT. WLAN, knowledge and experience.
MS applications, MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio and network management software.
Common client applications such as Adobe Acrobat.
IT troubleshooting skills and experience.
VSAT setup and maintenance.
Wireless bridge and access point set up and configuration.
Good communication skills (oral and written) in Dari, Pashto and English.
Able to work overtime on weekends or holidays as required by the supervisor.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design and oversee local data security on computers.
Oversee the distribution and re-collection of IT equipment to staff
Track and comply with software licensing regulations and policies.
Comply with and help enforce standard Tetra Tech IT policies and procedures.
Initiate and implement improvements in all areas of IT responsibility at the national and regional levels including VSAT.
Submit requisitions for purchasing of all software, hardware and other IT supplies at the local level and responsible and assist in purchases at the national level.
Responsible for the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the IT infrastructure in Kajaki office.
Troubleshoot systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support and recommendations when required.
Supervise the LAN, VSAT, WAN and telephone systems.
Conduct maintenance of computers, servers, peripherals and software as directed.
Interact with internal clients on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provide timely answers.
Coordinate with Kabul IT teams to help implement internal systems.
Communicate effectively with internal clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
Have the knowledge and ability of the IT startup procedure
Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
Identify opportunities for improvement and make constructive suggestions for change.
Resolve and/or report IT issues in a timely fashion to Kabul IT team.
Work closely with Procurement, Logistics and Finance to update inventory of IT equipment.
Coordinate all IT related issue very closely with Kabul IT team.
Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
