Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Asia Foundation will hire the IT Specialist to support the implementation of the APS project in the five above mentioned cities. The key responsibilities are:
Develop the web-site for PSAs to house information related to the development and expansion of APS;
Support the development of the on-line licensing process; and
Determine opportunities for phone apps to be developed to support the objectives.
Coordinate between the Foundation Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Commerce to develop the on-line licensing process; and
Develop and support social-media technologies to connect PSA members to each other for support and information sharing on events such as trainings workshops and other.
Develop the capacity of the PSA members to use technology for communication advocacy and strengthening the organization.
Reporting and Document development
Develop success stories to be shared with USAID; and
Develop technology related training materials to support the capacity development.
Develop and conduct pretest and posttest for capacity building trainings; analyze the data and provide the data to M&E;
Follow up on the implementation of the activities and report on achievements and issues; and
Collect baseline and end line data to show the impact of using technology for strengthening PSAs and for the development of APS.
Experienced in web-site development.
Experienced in training and supporting people on the use of technology.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the education sector with a very good understanding of its challenges and opportunities.
Have strong background in the use of ICT tools: databases websites and so on.
Fluency and ability to write official letters and reports in English Dari or Pashto required.
Demonstrated ability in prioritizing multi-tasking meeting deadlines while functioning amicably under pressure.
Basic understanding of M&E concepts.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Office package and Internet usage.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Asia Foundation with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is implementing a project titled Strengthening Education in Afghanistan (SEA-II). A key deliverable of the project is to support the strengthening and expansion of Affordable Private Schools (APS) in Afghanistan. The activity is implemented in five cities including Jalalabad Kandahar Herat Mazar and Kabul city. The key deliverables of APS are:
Support the MoE to develop institutional capacities and policies/guidelines within the MoE;
Enhance the leadership capacity of Private School Associations (PSAs) to create a long lasting and sustainable organization; and
Facilitate access to resources and facilities (Finance electricity internet license and so on) for expansion and increase of APSs in Afghanistan.
