Proven experience as a IT SUPPORT OFFICER or other customer support role

a good memory of how software and operating systems work;

Provide accurate information on IT products or services

Record events and problems and their resolution in logs

Follow-up and update customer status and information

Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team

Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures

excellent listening and questioning skills combined with the ability to interact confidently with clients to establish what the  problem is and explain the solution;

Aggressive problem diagnosis and creative problem solving skills

Strong organizational skills to juggle multiple tasks within the constraints of  timelines

Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment learn rapidly and master diverse web technologies and techniques.

Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues

Proficiency in English

Excellent communication skills



BSc/ in IT Computer Science or relevant field with at least 3 years of relevant experience.


Duties & Responsibilities

Description of the Post:



We are looking for a competent IT SUPPORT OFFICER to provide fast and useful technical assistance on computer systems. You will answer queries on basic technical issues and offer advice to solve them. An excellent IT SUPPORT OFFICER officer must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution.



The goal is to create value for clients that will help preserve the company’s reputation and business. They may install and configure computer systems diagnose hardware and software faults and solve technical and applications problems either over the phone or in person.



Depending on the size of the organization an IT SUPPORT OFFICER role may span one or more areas of expertise. It’s therefore crucial to ensure the correct running and maintenance of the IT systems.



Responsibilities



The IT SUPPORT OFFICER are mainly responsible for the smooth running of computer systems and ensuring users get maximum benefits from them. Individual tasks vary depending on the size and structure of the organization but may include:



installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications;

Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email

monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;

troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;

replacing parts as required;

providing support including procedural documentation and relevant reports;

following diagrams and written instructions to repair a fault or set up a system;

supporting the roll-out of new applications;

setting up new users accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;

responding within agreed time limits to call-outs;

working continuously on a task until completion (or referral to third parties if appropriate);

prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time;

Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions

Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided by customers

Walk the customer through the problem-solving process

rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals

testing and evaluating new technology;

Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment.



Career breaks are rare because of the need to keep up to date with the ever-changing specific software and operating systems.

Considerable client contact is usually required.

identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention

track and route problems and requests and document resolutions

Travel within a working day is sometimes needed and may be required at short notice.

Emergency travelling to adjacent region/provinces as directed.
