Duties & Responsibilities

Job Purpose



Mashal University is recruiting Lecturers specialising in Marketing HR & Economics to accommodate the rapid growth being achieved by the University and teach on our degree programmes. We are looking for highly motivated practitioner experienced lecturers to bring high quality teaching and module leadership into the University. Specifically we are seeking candidates who hold a Master or PhD degree or relevant professional qualification and are able to teach on business management subjects.



Faculty will undertake a variety of duties including but not restricted to module leadership curriculum design assessment marking personal tuition project supervision managing online associates undertaking scholarship work and teaching (online and/or face to face). Faculty are expected to assist with recruitment of students at open days as well as having involvement in ad hoc business development activities.



Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities




  1. Prepare and deliver lecture to undergraduate and graduate levels in areas allocated by the Head of Department and reviewed time to time by the Head of Department.

  2. Ensure high quality and consistent teaching through the provision of detailed teaching guidance and academic support.

  3. Undertake curriculum development as and when required.

  4. To deliver lecture in English with modern methodology.

  5. Examining assessment and marking within the relevant programmes.

  6. Supervising student projects within the relevant programmes.

  7. To engage with the broader scholarly and professional communities.

  8. Managing a local cohort of students to ensure the smooth running and academic integrity of the relevant programme.

  9. To contribute to the development planning and implementation of a high quality curriculum.

  10. Managing students’ mid and final results with proper representation.

  11. To be punctual and regularly setting and marking homework/assignments in accordance with Mashal University policy.

  12. Maintaining records by entering into database and keeping manually.

  13. Properly & regularly taking attendance through online database system.

  14. To assist in the development of learning materials preparing schemes of work and maintaining records to monitor student progress achievement and attendance.

  15. To participate in departmental and faculty seminars aimed at sharing research outcomes and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.

  16. To provide tactful care and support to students.

  17. To participate in the development administration and marking of exams and other assessments within the department.

  18. To maintain own continuing professional development.

  19. To actively follow and promote Mashal University policies including Equal Opportunities.

  20. Providing academic support for commercial and business development activities within the University. Ad hoc provision of student liaison and support as required.

  21. Teaching on the relevant programmes in both face to face and online modes.

  22. Supporting the Faculty and Corporate vision of a “university with a national and international reputation for excellence innovation and regional engagement”.

  23. Any other duties appropriate to the grade and nature of the post.



Examination Responsibilities:



You are required to ascertain your responsibilities with regard to designing mid and final exams exam guidelines and any marking duties associated with all examinations. Please be sure that you become familiar with correct protocol within your Department about marking arrangements with regard to the following:



• Access to the latest version of the exam policy in your Department.



• Using the correct and up to date exam template.



• Be familiar with the correct exam structure.  



• Authorised Materials during exam.



• Exam review process (checking exam before submission).



• Exam submission deadline for each semester. 



• Credit completion exam arrangements.



• Ensure that exams are taken & stored in a secure environment.



• The method by which exams are distributed to markers must also be secure with accurate records kept as to the identity of markers in possession of exams.



• Be clear on the correct recording of marks on the script book in your department.



• Ensure integrity of all marking.



• Be familiar of the correct process where a student has failed the exam and the process.



• Storage and destruction of exam script book when marking is finalised.



• Be aware of the Board of Examiners requirements.



• It is important that you apply the correct procedures for recording students’ assessment results for your subject in your Department.



• Be sure that you understand and adhere to the requirements submission of final results for your subject in your Department. Mostly you will be required to attend a Board of Examiners meeting in your Department. Be sure that all marking is completed and all required documentation is completed prior to the meeting.



• Be sure that you understand the requirements for verifying students’ results.



Skills



Essential:        



Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills.

Proven record of ability to conduct high quality teaching which reflects in the areas of Management Science.



Desirable:        



Proven record of ability to manage time and work to strict deadlines.

Evidence of ability to teach and to supervise academic work by undergraduates or master.
