  • This role involves facilitation and coordination of virtual teams when needed.

Duties & Responsibilities


World Vision Afghanistan has been working in Badghis Province for more than10 years addressing health education and livelihood issues. The relationship the local government is very strong which proved with the MOU with various government departments in the province level. Together with the government and the communities in the target areas World Vision Afghanistan has been working to achieve the goal of WV Afghanistan for the period of 2014 – 2018 that is improving survival and wellbeing Afghan girls and boys building the foundations for a better future for Afghan children and their communities.

The AACRS (Australian Afghanistan Community Resilience Scheme) project is a four year project funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). This project has wide range intervention ranging from livelihood small scale irrigation processing of agriculture product and marketing components. The project’s end of program outcome is improved livelihoods of communities and families in Badghis which are sustainable and inclusive of vulnerable groups. End of program outcome is supported by three intermediate outcomes that is 1) families are more food secure; 2) producers sell more products in existing and new markets; 3) The vulnerable including women headed households are benefitting from project initiatives.

Number of beneficiaries will be benefitted from this project is 24 500 households in 104 villages in the district of QiN Qadis Qala I Naw Ab Kamary and Moqur. Project activities will be implemented in partnership with CDC (Community Development Council) and other government institutions who are working on agriculture and livestock irrigation and rural rehabilitation sectors. To encourage women actively involved in this project the project will work closely with the Department of Woman Affair (DoWA).


The purpose of this position is to provide income earning opportunities for poor people by strengthening the production and marketing support system.

The Marketing Specialist will work closely with the marketing facilitator agriculture coordinator and the monitoring and evaluation officer to implement the strategic plans which will be developed through value chain and farming system analysis/approaches. Liaison with traders merchants and shopkeepers in and /or outside the project areas to build l links on behalf of the project beneficiaries.


I. Situation Analysis of Local Producers and Market Opportunities

  • Meet with economic stakeholders in local economy

  • Identify products quality and quantity of the outputs from local producers to include products produced predominantly by men/ women

  • Identify key market players value chains directions/inputs outputs and entry points to include the extent of women and men’s involvement in the production of and ownership of the produce/ products

  • Identify market opportunities and constraints

  • Work with Working Group to prioritise products from list of 30

  • Document and report market assessment findings

2. Participatory Value Chain Analysis with Producers

  • Based on market assessment develop a series of innovative hypotheticals that would improve producers access to markets and/or income

  • Conduct participatory value chain analysis with producer research teams to test viability of proposed hypothetical scenarios.

  • Document and report potential viable hypothesis with supporting evidence.

  • Communicate findings and ideas to producers and stakeholders in region

3. Planning and Implementing Interventions

  • Facilitate producers in developing and implementing intervention plans following the participatory value chain analysis

4. Network and Liaise with Local and Regional Government NGOs and Business Groups. 

  • Identify market development opportunities that present through networks and relationships with other institutions and organisations and NGOs working in the areas of Market Access and development (which include opportunities for women to engage in and benefit from)

  • Communicate useful contacts and opportunities to ACCRS staff and when relevant producer groups.

  • Communicate market opportunities and supporting information to WV Staff village workers other NGOs and stakeholders.

5. Records and evaluation

  • Collect and record initial baseline data in an organised fashion to enable monitoring and evaluation of project impacts

  • Conduct appraisals of impacts against baseline data for chosen market initiatives
