Education and Experience:

  • Medical Doctors graduated from Medical University

  • 3- 5 years of work experience in treatment  and counseling of patients.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Ability to work in mobile clinics travelling to different areas of Mazar city.

  • Ability to speak Dari Pashto and write medical reports in English.

  • Have the extreme patience and abilities required for working with children.

  • Be punctual on time and able to meet deadlines.

  • Able to travel to provinces when required.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Medical Doctor will be responsible to manage the operations - SOWHA Project (Supporting Orphans and Women through Health and Awareness) Bamyan Afghanistan.

Provide project oversight and coordination on site for the SOWHA   project ensuring adherence to all the project log frame and all project specifications rules and related regulatory standards and guidelines.

The Medical Doctor will be responsible to oversee the provision of health services /treatments to orphans and his/ her families and will particularly perform the following duties and responsibilities under the direct supervision of the Field Coordinator/Senior Health and Nutrition Program Officer.

  • To plan and implement activities of Supporting Orphans and Women through Health and Awareness - (SOWHA) project.

  • Visit the beneficiaries via Islamic Relief Worldwide – Afghanistan (IRW-A) mobile clinic on the basis of the schedule being provided by Field Coordinator/Sr. Health & Nutrition Program Officer.

  • Should do OPD and day to day treatment of beneficiaries illnesses and refer beneficiaries with serious health problems to IRW-A’s contracted hospital.

  • Provide socio-psychological counseling to beneficiaries requiring counseling.

  • Should be in close contact with IRW-A’s contracted hospital and follow up the treatment of the referred beneficiaries.

  • Prescribe the appropriate medical treatment

  • Write reports on status of the beneficiaries and progress of the project activities.

  • Ensure beneficiaries’ medical files are updated regularly and all documents are kept properly.

  • Write treatment completion report for the beneficiaries in case of long treatment. 

  • Be in close contact and coordination with Field Assistant and Medical Assistant.

  • Identify and report immediately any problems which interfere in the delivery of services or in achieving the program’s objectives to Field Coordinator/Sr. Health & Nutrition Program Officer.

  • Ensure adherence to the IR Child Protection Policy

  • Any other tasks assigned by the line supervisor
