At least 3 years of work experience in health engineering food security and WASH;

Proven record and experience in project management;

Demonstrated experience of working in collaboration with local          authorities;

Demonstrated experience in conducting training and providing capacity building;

Excellent interpersonal skills including diplomacy and tact in order to be able to liaise effectively; with a range of stakeholders including NGO partners community leaders and government officials;

Fluency in Dari and Pashtu with excellent written and oral English language skills;

Able to work under time pressure and long hours whenever required;

Resilience flexibility and adaptability to work successfully under stressful conditions;

Experience in project management and project cycle.

Knowledge in training and management.

Good analysis and writing skills ;

Good analysis and problem solving skills;

Independence critical mind and pro-activity;

Flexibility and organization;

Ability to work with a team.

Duties & Responsibilities

The project  manager will be responsible for the following:

To identify the needs in the school in terms of WASH/FSL/Protection.

To Lead in the design implementation of behavioural changes campaigns in the school

Assessing the suitability and efficiency of a behavior change strategy based on children as agents of change at household level within afghan context through formative research

To implement high quality and relevant WASH/FSL/Protection activities with overarching strategy and the standards set internationally by AAH and by national policies.

Provide technical management and administrative support to the project implementation

Ensure quality and respect of deadlines of the projects implementation

Communication with the team and collaboration with the WASH FSL and Protection HODs and DHODs logistics and administration department

Ensure the supervision of the programme objectives and organize the protect teams.

Participating as and when necessary in the development of implementation plan and strategy in area of intervention 

Ensure gender and protection mainstreaming in all humanitarian response project; Participate in coordination meetings in Kabul if required.

Coordinate reporting on budget expenditures and follow up on the budget utilization

Major responsibilities

1. Ensure the implementation of the programs

The PM has to:

Recruit and train the team.

Supervision monitoring and follow up of the team and activities.

Provide technical support to team and students

Reporting the team activities to line manager.

Direct Coordination with school principle student parents and report any potential challenges to line managers and/or security department.

Respect and follow up security roles and procedures and team movement follow up


2. Supervise the programs and manage the teams


The PM has to:

Plan the activities in order to respect the planning of the proposal and ensure that the program will not face delays.

Evaluate regularly the qualifications qualities and motivation of the team.

Supervise the teams and conduct their appraisal.

Follow the project indicators and monitor the facilities (execution delays quality of the facilities…) with AAH tools.

Implement and follow-up of indicators monitoring tools.

Follow-up the budget with the HoD his deputy and the Field Coordinator.

Do the procurement request (check of the quality and the quantity of materials) and monitor the purchase with the Field Coordinator.

Organize the movement of the teams.

Participate in the elaboration and improvement of AAH tools.

Analyse the relevance and adequacy of the intervention with respect to the evolution of the context and needs.

Participate in the writing of donor reports.

Write the monthly reports.

Write capitalization reports.


3. Relay AAH activities and objectives to the communities and partners


The PM has to:

Participate in external coordination meetings with stakeholders.

Inform local authorities about all aspects of the programs.

Involve and inform the communities in the implementation of the program.

Ensure the appropriation of the different activities by the communities.

Work in collaboration with the stakeholders.


4. Be proactive with respect to the definition of new strategies and intervention (in collaboration with the HoD and his deputy).


The PM has to:

Participate in the elaboration of the country strategy.

Follow-up of the humanitarian situation in the area.

Participate in the evaluation in the intervention area and in new areas.

Represent AAH with the communities


5. Ensure the respect of security rules


The PM has to:

Ensure that the procedures and security expectancies and followed before during and after the works in the field.

Inform the supervisor about any security incident.

Respect and make respect security rules.
