Bachelors degree with 4 years or 7 years of relevant experience working with for or with private businesses in the region;

Bachelor’s degree in business administration economics finance or related field preferred. Experience may be substituted for degree;

Strong team player who brings innovative thinking initiative and a results and customer service oriented approach to the work;

Strong network of private sector contacts in the region including active business organizations financial institutions professional service providers and business owners.

Demonstrated familiarity with constraints faced by women-owned and/or majority women enterprises in Afghanistan donor-funded programs and existing resources to assist those businesses.

Able to travel as needed.

Excellent communication skills.

Fluency in English and strong computer (Microsoft) skills required.


The position reports to the Senior Regional Manager

Duties & Responsibilities


The Private Sector Development Case Officer (PSD CO) will have primary responsibility in each region for building a network of private sector stakeholders identify and recommend potential businesses for WIE’s support perform regular oversight of quality of services delivery to client businesses report major issues in the region make recommendations for new programming and provide feedback on existing. The individual will be the key link between the PSD team in Kabul and the beneficiaries of WIE programming in the region. The PSD CO will be reporting to Senior Regional Manager (SRM) of the region.

Objective and Duties:

Keep up to date directory of eligible businesses in the region at all times businesses identified and keep up to date knowledge management portal of PSD team;

Identify assess/discuss needs of applicant businesses and recommend eligible businesses for WIE’s support;

Interact with PSD team Kabul to provide various types of information to assist PSD team in Kabul make better decision on assisting businesses recommended for support;

Oversee implementation of WIE’s PSD activities in the region and report any deviation together with recommending corrective measures;

Identify and maintain good relationship with all the stakeholders in the region including BDS firms business services providers NGOs etc.;

In close coordination with SRM make recommendations for new programming and changes to the current activities of WIE’s PSD;

Maintain good relationship with client businesses and assist WIE’s M&E compliance and communications teams in collecting various data from businesses;

Other duties as assigned by SRM.
