Duties & Responsibilities


Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private international nonprofit and non-denominational development agency. It seeks sustainable solutions to long term problems of poverty with special emphasis on the needs of rural communities in mountainous coastal and other resource poor areas across the world. Concentrating its efforts in health education rural development and strengthening civil society sectors AKFs approach is based on long-term commitment that is maintained through political and social uncertainty. At present AKF in Afghanistan is seeking an exceptional expatriate individual to fill the position of Health Program Coordinator at its National Program Office in Kabul Afghanistan

AKF Afghanistan’s Health Department provides support in resource mobilization and grant management to other AKDN agencies i.e. AKHS AKUPA and FMIC along with the technical support at different area as needed. The position of Project Coordinator Sehatmandi in the structure of AKF Health Department is responsible for ensuring the quality consistency and coherence of the grants/Contracts managed by AKF and implemented by AKHSA in the health sector including Sehatmanid of Bamyan and Badakhshan proivnces and other vertical projects supplementing Sehatmandi under the overall guidance and supervision of the Grant Manger of the Health Program. In addition timely and effective coordination and communication with AKHSA and MoPH is one of the important requirements of the position.



Maintain good and effective relations with MoPH AKHSA and other vertical project donors through regular communication reporting and attending meetings and workshops.
Ensure timley response to MoPH and prevent any delay in submission of expected deliverables and responses which has effect in overall performance rating of the projects.
Ensure grant compliance on key health grants managed by AKF and implemented by AKHS.
Work closely with national health grants and implementation manager other national program managers regional program managers project coordinators technical staff other AKDN health agencies and AKF’s grant/finance managers to ensure compliance and successful resource mobilization.
Facilitate coordination internally with AKF and AKHS different departments
Develop and implement quarterly based field monitoring and verification visits coordinate with grants and implementation manager at national level and regional program focal points at provincial level.
Conduct quarterly base field visits from each project develop report share feedback and do follow up for implementation of the remedial action plan.
Participate in joint monitoring visits planned by AKHS and/or MoPH to facilitate visits and do follow up of the findings for improvement.
Review project related reports provide feedback and ensure good quality and timely submission to MOPH/donor.
Ensure that all data/information provided by AKHS are correct verified confirmed aligned with project requirements before submission to MoPH/donor.
Work closely with AKF and AKHS finance colleagues to ensure timely response and submission of quality deliverables particularly financial reports and instalment requests to MoPH within the given deadlines.
Facilitate MoPH/donor audits evaluations and other missions/visits as per grant agreements.
Maintain an up-to-date grants management and resource mobilization matrix/database of and follow up and report accordingly.
Participate in donor meetings including forums of the Ministry of Public Health and other donors and inter AKDN agencies events in close coordination with national grants manager and health sector lead.
Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of all works being implemented by AKDN in the health sector in Afghanistan.
Assist in the development and dissemination of effective communications materials on health programs.
Draw out and document lessons learned and best practices in AKF/AKHS level.
Conduct quarterly coordination/grants review meeting with AKHS followed up by remedial action plan.
Participate in key AKHS program related planning and budget preparation meetings.
Attend meetings workshops and conferences as necessary requested by AKHS or MoPH including some meetings arranged on Saturdays by MoPH.
Ensure proper filling record of all project related soft and hard documents at national office level.
Provide overall support to the health grants management team whenever needed.



Contribute to program development activities whenever needed by providing input and field related update information.
