  • At least Bachelors degree in the field of social sciences business administration and other relevant fields with 5 years of progressive experience including three years of experience in the field of mine action. 

  • Completed the Demining trainings including Manual Demining Battle Area Clearance. Certificate in EOD Level 3 plus course is desirable

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective partnerships and working relations with people in a multi-cultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;

  • Sound analytical and problem-solving in regard to technical issues in mine action

  • Sound knowledge of and exposure to a range of mine action issues including the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).

  • Fluent spoken and written English and Dari and/or Pashto

  • Proficiency in MS Office products including MS Word MS Excel and MS Outlook

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manages liaises and coordinates researches and trials of mine action new equipment and technologies;

  • Reviews and revises the existing processes/procedures and innovates news operations methodologies for further improving productivity and improving quality mine action deliverables 

  • Reviews and analyses land release process and procedures  

  • Provides technical advice for accreditation and licensing of IPs demining assets i.e. MDU MDDs Manual and other new or modified technical equipment

  • Takes part on review of mine action related concept notes and proposals

  • Coordinates and manages records of the MAPA retained mines for trials and trainings;

  • Manages and coordinates trials on productivity of various clearance methodologies

  • Conducts demining fields visits to ensure IPs performances are improved continually

  • Endeavours for continual improvement for development of institutional and personnel capacity of DMAC

  • Reviews implementing partners’ mine action related training packages and provides technical advice to them

  • Takes part as member of demining accident board of inquiry

  • Analyses of IMSMA data on survey clearance and mine/ERW risk educations and provides recommendations for further improvement of these activities 

  • Designs and coordinates conduct of technical meetings and workshops

  • Manages and further develops the DMAC’s Center of Excellence and provides technical assistance and trainings to DMAC and MAPA

  • Conducts regular assessment and analyses of the new contamination data resulted from recent fighting and suggest the most efficient and effective ways of operations  

  • Drafts and processes standard documents of all trials and researches conducted on various mine action technologies for further development

  • Any other related tasks assigned by DMAC chief of operations
