Duties & Responsibilities
Finding a job in the current market can be a real challenge for women especially if they dont have any experience. Yet to get the experience they must first find a job. Its a nasty catch that can be difficult to get around but technical training followed by internship is a good way to do it.
Internships provide work experience opportunities to university students fresh graduates and people considering career changes. Banks in Afghanistan indicated the willingness to hire interns with little or no experience especially if the intern is willing to accept little or no monetary compensation.
Therefore AIBF in support of USAID’s Promote-Women in Economy (WIE) will launch Women Training and Internship Program to train and provide internship opportunity to 60 women.
Merit-based selection of women interns all interns will receive 6 months extensive training in Islamic Banking Credit Management Marketing Principles of Management Bank’s Operations and Finance the training will be followed by three months internship with Afghan banks. The 60 participants from capital will be deployed for the internship in commercial banks while rest 30 from zones will be placed in their relevant provincial branches of banks and during the placement in Banks for 3 months will receive the stipend.
As a result of the project 60 well trained professional women will gain technical knowledge and get on the job training and experience through the internship that will assist them to secure employment within the financial institutions.
The main goal of WICB is to train 60 recent women graduates having minimum 12-grade and preferably 14th passed or bachelors from Economics Management Finance Commerce or other related faculties by offering an extensive training program for six months followed by 3 months internship.
The main objective of WICB is to enable 60 women to gain technical knowledge and experience through training and internship programs to increase their chances of securing employment opportunity within the formal economy; the objective will contribute to the WIE’s objective of “enabling Afghan women to increase their participation in the mainstream formal economy by securing employment”.
1. Written exam on basic financial literacy English language and computer skills;
2. Participating in a one week Job Readiness course and passing the Job Readiness course exam a the end;
3. Short interview.
Tuition fee and benefits:
1. Afs6 000 tuition fee payable to AIBF upon final selection; rest of the cost is subsidized by sponsoring organization
2. 6 months classroom course and 3 months internship in different branches of commercial banks in Kabul with some stipend being paid to interns during their internship.
