Master’s or its equivalent with 5 years of relevant experience; Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of relevant experience
Demonstrated understanding of good approach to women’s and girl’s empowerment and social change
Demonstrated clear understanding of gender human rights and issues surrounding violence against women and girls.
Experience with delivering capacity building interventions
Knowledge and experience with gender approaches and tools
Ability to manage relations by being sensitive to cultural differences and responding appropriately to different situations
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a highly motivated team
Ability to write results-based reporting

Knowledge and understanding of the institutional legal and policy frameworks at country level that impact the status of women in society

Willingness to serve women affected by violence based on need regardless of their ethnic background.
Strong knowledge of USAID rules regulations procedures reporting and Afghan
Government policies and labor laws preferred
Duties & Responsibilities
The Women’s right team lead will contribute to the successful delivery of the women’s empowerment and leadership programs. S/he will provide overall leadership on women’s right issues within the project leads and coordinate resources mobilization for women’s rights programming. S/he will closely works with CSOs and women’s networks to increase awareness of and support for women’s right in all provinces. This individual will strengthen Women’s rights in areas such as gender-based violence sexual and reproductive rights and women’s economic empowerment. This role will also strengthen women’s networks/coalitions through technical programming.
Plays a key role in developing the gender strategy support develop and manage initiatives towards addressing gender inequality and promoting women’s rights.
Works with women’s rights organizations to address violence against women and girls in order to improve lives of Afghan women.
Makes efforts to increase transformational leadership women’s protection and economic empowerment and political voices.
Develops capacity of woman’s rights organizations to ensures advancement of gender equality
Supports Afghan women exercises their rights to pursue their individual potential to self-determination and to representation in all areas of life—political social cultural and economic.
Supports in expansion of the Women Economic Empowerment by raising existing problems and suggesting solutions.
Identifies capacity building needs and support partners through technical assistance mentoring training and capacity development initiatives as needed
Gathers and compiles all information necessary for monitoring and reporting on project from the planning to the evaluation stages
Provides inputs to annual and quarterly reports and other technical deliverables.
Develops and delivers programs and strategies to effectively address Gender Justice issues.
Identifies media and other external opportunities to profile work and advocate on issues relating to women’s rights.
Provides regular information briefings and reports on women’s rights programs
Identifies and coordinates the local and regional interface for opportunities to reduce the violence against women and to foster strategic institutional linkages alliances and networks that enhance sharing learning and collaboration in the women’s movement.
Adopts a ´thought leadership´ attitude that leads organized researches and analyses to develop a comprehensive understanding of the women’s rights in the society
Represents WECS internally and externally on issues related to Women rights programming
Ensures that all WECS programs’ quality standards and practices are deliberate and specific on Womens rights indicators.
