Qualification

Qualification:
  • Enrolled in or recently graduate from Architecture or Urban planning degree.
  • Knowledge of basic civil engineering principles.
  • A strong commitment to human rights gender sensitivity and pro-poor development work.
  • Strong interest for the field research ability and willingness to learn from others;
  • Ability to communicate orally and written English
  • Good communication skills and a commitment to team work are essential to ensure cohesion with UN-Habitat and Afghanistan government technical team.
  • Ready to work under the existing security condition of Afghanistan.
  • Ability to hand sketch.
  • Advanced computer and design skills in particular CAD software 3D modelisation and presentation/graphic software.

Duties & Responsibilities

The young professionals will have the opportunity to develop their professional skills and knowledge by contributing to the development of the SHURA project. They will be involved and supported in the completion of the following tasks:




  • Undertake research on different urban housing shelter typologies and construction technics in Afghanistan through desk research data collections interviews meeting with relevant stakeholders and NGO clusters.

  • Participate on developing spatial mapping for site analysis and general cartography

  • Participate on neighborhood urban planning of settlements for re-integration

  • Contribute to design conceptualization of incremental housing models and settlement development

  • Participate in the earthquake resistance housing training.

  • Collaborate with government partners and other organizations as needed.

  • Prepare follow and monitor weekly and monthly work plan

  • Report work progress to International Urban Planner.
