Required – A Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance from a recognized University or similar credentials
Required – At least 5 years of experience working as an Internal Auditor
Required - Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office applications.
Required – Excellent spoken and written command of English Pashto and Dari
Required – Ability to work under pressure and tight time frames with long hours.
Preferred – CIA ACCA CFE certification or similar certification (substantial progress toward certification may be considered as an alternative).
Preferred – Familiarity with USAID regulations.
Preferred – Experience working as internal auditor with USAID funded projects and International organizations.
Excellent organizational skills

Familiarity with International Professional Practice Framework (IPPF)
Key outcomes include:
Assist in conducting risk assessment to identify the risky areas.
Assisting in preparation and implementation of annual risk based internal audit plan.
Maintaining proper filing system and
Performing follow-up of the agreed audit recommendations.
Assist in conducting special assignments such as investigations and assessment
The position requires the candidate to have full capability to independently conduct the internal audit activities with the purpose to provide reasonable assurance regarding the achievement of AUAF’s objectives by bringing a systematic and disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of internal controls risk management and governance process.
Conducts risk based audits and process audits to evaluate and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of internal control risk management and governance process.
Propose practical and value added recommendations to address control weaknesses and/or process inefficiencies
Per the approved audit program designs audit checklists and standard paperwork and questionnaires to confirm internal controls.
Assist in the preparation of a concise and informative audit report to effectively communicate the findings and recommendations.
Performs follow-up audit of the agreed audit recommendations and prepares the audit report.
Arrange organize and file properly all audited documents.
Suggest control activity to prevent the potential risk of fraud corruption and other irregularities.
Determines the level of compliance with AUAF policies and procedures local laws and donor’s requirements.
Conduct special assignment such as investigation and assessments on need bases or whenever directed by the Head of Internal Audit.
Participate in meetings with individuals and departments to update auditees on findings and the audit process
Proactively inform senior management of significant risks or exposures related to internal controls compliance and/or governance requiring prompt attention.
Coordinate with the external auditors and act as a liaison whenever requested by the supervisor.
Participate in the audit committee meetings and calls whenever requested by the Head of Internal Audit or Chair of the Audit Committee.
Act as the focal person for the Hotline calls and emails.
Carries out any other related tasks assigned by the Head of Internal Audit.
