• Ability to travel to different provinces in Afghanistan.
• Conduct data entry of the CE team’s events and trainings into the Global Management Information System (GMIS) when required
• Record keep and update departmental documents through a filing system both hard and soft
• Performing multifaceted general office support
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Excellent written and spoken English;
• Fluency in written and spoken Dari and or Pashtu
Previous experience working on USAID funded programs or programs funded by large international
Counterpart International is seeking a Civic Engagement Program Officer to work in the Programming Department of its USAID-funded Afghan Civic Engagement Program (ACEP). The position is based in Kabul but the selected person will be expected to travel to different regions of Afghanistan. They will form part of the Civic Engagement Team in the ACEP Programming Department. The Civic Engagement Team members are responsible for managing several grants that are awarded to civil society organizations (CSOs) and providing technical support to national and regional level advocacy groups and supporting these groups as they reach out and create networks with provincial civil society actors.
The ideal candidate will bring at least 3 years of experience in civil society advocacy and/or civil society support within Afghanistan. They will have policy analysis skills; experience in supporting or being part of advocacy campaigns community mobilization civic engagement knowledge and some knowledge of research methods. The Program Officer will be able to transfer knowledge and develop capacity using a variety of approaches aimed at experienced civil society actors.
This position is full-time for one-year and only open to Afghan nationals.
The position reports to the Civic Engagement Manager
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Civic Engagement/ Advocacy:
Provide technical and administrative support to the People with Disability Advocacy Group Family Law Technical Working Group and the Civil Society Joint Working Group.
Manage monitor and provide technical support to ACEP partners and grantees.
Coordination and reporting:
Liaise on a regular basis with the ACEP network civil society coordination bodies international actors Afghan government parliament and media to develop and refine advocacy initiatives.
Participate in ACEP programming bi-weekly meetings all staff meetings and similar internal meetings and
