Required Qualifications



Education



Bachelor’s degree on education social sciences or a related field.



Work experience



At least 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of education programme delivery especially curriculum development

Previous work experience dealing with Government counterparts particularly the Ministry of Education.

Excellent research skills;

Excellent analytical and writing skills; 

Competent computer skills for word processing presentation and data analysis; and

Excellent independent working skills.



Language



Intermediate knowledge of English (both written and spoken).

Fluent in Pashto and/or Dari (Persian).

In 2016 the MoE with the technical and financial support of UNESCO was able to prepare the Youth and Adult Basic Education Curriculum Framework and instructional materials for level I (equivalent to grades 1- 3 of general education).  In 2020 MoE with the technical support of UNESCO was able to revise the Youth and Adult Literacy and Basic Education (YALBE) Curriculum Framework for all three levels[1] and develop YALBE level II syllabi (in three learning areas: Literacy Numeracy and Life Skills). The Afghan National Association for Adult Education (ANAFAE) has been supporting Non-Formal Education (NFE) in Afghanistan since 2005 and is currently recruiting two technical assistants to support the YALBE level 2 curriculum process.   The incumbents will be supporting the MoE and the UNESCO NFE Curriculum Development team with the development of YALBE level II textbooks/workbooks teacher guides and assessment tools.



[1] Level I is equivalent to grades 1-3 of formal education. Level II is equivalent to grades 4-6 of formal education. Level III is equivalent to grades 7-9 of formal education.




  1. Support the MoE and UNESCO NFE Curriculum Development team to develop YALBE level II (equivalent to grades 4-6 of formal education) instructional materials (including textbooks/workbooks teacher guides and assessment tools) for each learning area of Literacy Numeracy and Life Skills.  This includes supporting the development of lesson contents and activities teacher guides and learning assessment tools.

  2. Support the MoE and UNESCO NFE Curriculum Development team with conducting consultation meetings/workshops with a variety of technical experts and non-formal education and literacy stakeholders on YALBE level II instructional materials.

  3. Contribute to capacity building interventions aiming at strengthening the capacity of government counterparts such as NFE curriculum developers of MoE teacher education professional members and support the Training of Trainers (ToTs) and facilitator trainings for the MoE`s Literacy Directorate.

  4. Support the MoE and UNESCO NFE Curriculum Development team to conduct comparative desk review and analysis on YALBE curriculum

  5. Ensure quality control and consistency among all curricula and training materials in terms of objectives and outcomes.

  6. Any other task assigned by the ANAFAE supervisor UNESCOs NFE and Adult Literacy project officer and the MoE.
