Generic professional competencies for this position:
At least three years of professional experience in the humanitarian sector with international organizations ideally in an emergency response or field-based humanitarian protection role
Strong understanding of humanitarian response architecture particularly in terms of emergency response and humanitarian protection
Ability to write detailed reports in English
Strong ability to deliver capacity-building training and mentoring
The ability to travel between Kabul and programming areas
A university degree
Monthly Salary based on NRC Afghanistan Salary Scale.
NRC has medical coverage for staff plus 4 dependents.

Adherence to NRC policies guidance and procedures
Contribute to Protection strategy development project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps
Technically support in the implementation of delegated portfolio of Protection projects (activities budget and project documentation) as delegated from the Protection Specialist in line with proposals strategies and donor requirements and ensure high technical quality
Provide regular progress reports to the Protection Specialist as their technical line and the Protection Project Manager as their direct line manager.
Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need of protection explore and asses new and better ways to assist
Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills
Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
A. Internal and External Capacity Building:
Support the design and deliver protection trainings and workshops for protection staffs and community members
Contribute to the development and translation of training materials
Provide close technical support including in-field assistance on-the-job mentoring feedback to field-based Protection staff on Protection of Civilians and protection case management
Support in the identification of new project areas and subsequent context and conflict specific assessments
Support NRC and the Protection Unit with humanitarian access negotiations in relation to NRC protection programming activities
Represent NRC protection in coordination fora when requested by the Protection Specialist
Focal point for the support office protection unit with government ministries and other local authorities
B. Programme Implementation Monitoring and Reporting:
Support in coordinating country side protection assessments including monitoring and evaluating processes for the protection unit
Participate in needs assessments field research exercises and lead data collection in the field interact with community representatives and local stakeholders fill out forms and submit related reports
Representation of NRC Protection in relevant meetings as delegated by supervisor/management
Travel to project implementation areas to support in programme implementation and capacity building
Keep accurate project-based records of activities implemented and beneficiaries reached by updating relevant databases and fact sheets on a monthly basis
Raise Purchase Requests (PRs) launch procurement processes related to project implementation closely liaise with procurement logistics finance colleagues throughout the process in order to ensure timely completion of the process and availability of the required goods and services.
