Background Information - Job-specific
The Shelter Site Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of shelter repair project.
Assess the beneficiaries who shelter is damaged using the cluster standard tool.
Perform damage assessments and needs assessments related to Shelter & Settlement.
Sign the MoU with beneficiaries for the repair of shelters.
Prepare Designs and Bills of Quantities for Shelter & Settlement interventions as required by programmes.
Follow the standard procedure for the repair of the shelters.
Provide technical training on construction and Build Back Butter (BBB) to beneficiaries.
Supervise and monitor the contraction/repair of shelter and provide necessary feedback to beneficiaries for the quality construction.
Ensure that beneficiaries receive the cash for shelter repair on time.
Provide trainings on maintenance and use of the shelters and the latrines.
Perform market assessments related to shelter and NFI’s
Provide support to logistics and planning of shelter & settlement interventions
Ensure safety measures are in place at the construction sites.
Ensure that activities are planned successfully according to relevant quality standards (like f.i. SPHERE) and in close collaboration with the Emergency Shelter and NFI Cluster
Provide relevant technical expertise/guidance to ensure that technical quality and standards are maintained during project implementation
Ensure Age Gender and Diversity (AGD) approach to Shelter & Settlement is consistently applied through community and rights based participatory methods
Work proactively to ensure that the projects are responsive and relevant to community needs

Providing monthly report to shelter coordinator.

Follow the security protocols of Cordaid and also ensure that these protocols are respected and follow by the project team.
Report any security related information to the HA Manager and Security responsible
Coordinate activities with other actors and Cordaid’s sectors.
Proactive engagement in external coordination forums and regular bilateral communication with other NGOs UN agencies government ministries and humanitarian actors at the national level
Attend other coordination meetings in regional/provincial level as required
Attend and participate in trainings identified/ organized by your supervisor
Follow any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from MO
To report any violations of the Cordaid mandatory report of policies to the HA manager and Reginal. The reporting of violations is an obligation on the part of all staff members.
To assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of sexual abuse and exploitation of beneficiaries by Cordaid and other humanitarian workers.
Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
